'Custom Audio Cables' was established in 2002 to supply quality assembled cables. Our customers include audio equipment suppliers/retailers, location sound recordists, universities, AV hire companies, government departments, television broadcasters, video and film production companies, theaters, and recording studios.
We supply cables Australia-wide and accept payment by EFT/direct deposit, cheque or money order. 
Attention to detail and the use of quality components allow us to assemble cables which are highly reliable and built to last. Each cable is assembled by a qualified electronics technician with over a decade of experience in professional cable assembly.
We specialise in assembling cables configured to suit individual requirements. We will happily assemble one cable or a hundred; just ask us for a quote!
For those who wish to assemble their own cables we offer cable (by the metre) and connectors separately. We stock Neutrik, Canare, Mogami, Switchcraft and Hirose to name just a few.

We offer FREE delivery to anywhere within Australia by registered parcel
post. We can arrange delivery to a business address, residential address
or to a post office box. If you require we can also send your order
urgently via Platinum Express courier satchel or Express parcel post
charged at $20 per order.
Q. What if I am not home when my cables are delivered?
A card will be left and you can pick up the parcel at your local post office at your convenience (just bring photo ID).
Q. Can you deliver to our Post Office box?
Yes! We deliver to your business, PO box, or home address.
Q. What does delivery cost?

Q. Where do you deliver to?
Anywhere in Australia. We have customers in every state and territory of Australia.
Q. How long does it take to arrive?
Most deliveries arrive within 2 days. Some may take longer depending on
your location. If it is urgent please let us know and we will get it to
you as quickly as possible.
Q. Can you deliver overseas?
Yes, in some cases, if required, please contact us by email with your specific requirements.
Q. Can I pick up my order, directly?
You are most welcome to arrange collection using your own preferred courier service but we do not operate a retail store for customers to purchase over the counter. In some cases we can direct you to an outlet that stocks a range of our products.
Q. How can I pay?
EFT (direct deposit via your internet banking) to our bank account is preferred and the quickest. You can also pay by money order or cheque.
Q. Will you let me know when payment is received?
Certainly, as soon as the funds reach our account you will receive an email the same day to confirm your payment has been accepted.
Q. I need a tax invoice, will you send one?
A tax invoice will be enclosed with your cables. We can also email a copy if you require it beforehand.
Q. Do you accept credit cards?
We used to accept cards but found most customers preferred to pay by EFT so due to the lack of requests for credit card payment we have discontinued merchant facilities. If you would prefer to pay by card, please let us know. If we get enough requests we will arrange for the facility to be put back in place.
Q. I need a quote for a cable not listed on your site. Can you help?

Q. I have a quote from another cable supplier/manufacturer. Can you match the pricing?
Please email the quote and we will provide you with the best price we can using similar (or where possible) the same quality components.
Q. Is there a discount for quantity purchases?
Yes, please email the quantities you require and we will provide discounted pricing based on your requirements.
Q. I would like to resell some of your products, are you able to assist?
Certainly we offer competitive discounts for retailers who order in bulk for resale. Please email for further information.
Q. I am not sure exactly what cable I require, can you help?
Yes, simply email a description of what you are trying to achieve and what equipment you are connecting (i.e. mixer to camera). Please include the cable length required.
Q. What brands of connectors and cable do you recommend?
We have been using Neutrik connectors, Canare and Mogami cables for professional applications for many years and regard these extremely highly in terms of their performance and build quality. We also use and highly recommend Belden audio/video cable, Switchcraft mini-XLR plugs, Lemo connectors and Hirose circular connectors.
Q. How is the cable length measured?
Cable length (where specified) is the total, overall length of the cable
including the length of the connectors.
Q. Do you supply video cables?
Yes! We highly recommend Canare professional video cables which we assemble and supply. We use LV-61S which is a very flexible RG59 type video coaxial cable and Canare BCP series professional 75 ohm video BNC crimp connectors.
Q. Can you supply technical specifications for a particular cable or connector?
Yes, we will happily email any technical specification where the manufacturer has made this information available.
Q. We want to build our own cables, can you supply the connectors and cable?
Certainly, take a look at our products page for price lists for cable and connectors or email your requirements and we will respond with a quote. Discounts apply for quantity purchases.
Q. Do you use heatshrink?
Yes, wherever possible heat-shrink is used to provide mechanical isolation between pins inside the connector body. Heat-shrink is also used to build a small cable up to the correct diameter to allow the connector’s cable clamp to grip the cable properly. Many cheaply manufactured cables do not provide this and therefore their cables can fail prematurely if placed under stress or pulled on harshly.
Q. What experience/qualifications do you have in regards to cabling/audio?
Qualifications include: Diploma in Electrical Technology, Cert 4 in Audio Visual Technology, Advanced Certificate in Electronics and Electronic Communication Systems. Experience: Over a decade of professional cable assembly experience, professional audio service technician, Audio Visual service technician, AV tech support and AV professional installer.
Q. Are you available after hours/weekends for questions/orders?
Our normal working week is Monday to Friday but we are available 7 days a week for urgent requirements and support. Send us an email and we will respond as quickly as possible.
Q. Can we fax our order?
No, please email the order or a scanned copy of the order. We will confirm your order by email or phone once received.
